1 YEAR ON

It was around this time last year that I showcased my Graduate womenswear RTW collection at the Baltic Arts Centre in Gateshead, Newcastle and at Graduate Fashion Week, London, how time does fly.

I created a collection for versatility, a collection that was wearable season after season inspired by a mash up of urban street style imagery/styling and a riveting story about the iconic Osa Johnson and the adventures she faced with husband Martin during safari exploration in the 1940's fully detailed in her book entitled 'I Married Adventure'. The collection was inspired by the strong, independent women on the go with a certain 'coolness' about them.

So I am working on creating a leather jacket for my Graduate collection and the research is key. I am looking at what makes the leather jacket timeless and why, almost 100 years on do we still want to buy the same styles?

The semester has finished, summer is here and with it brings a boat load of graduate collection research. Here a few images I am finding inspiring at the moment, getting me excited for my final year at University and cracking on with my final collection, but the optimistic side of me would rather call it my first collection...
