Im back and I do not wish to be back

Mexico is the most amazing place I have ever been. I will go back and travel the whole country some day.

Rocking the new D&G sunnies and keeping it pretty casual in the incredible humid heat in downtown Cancun.

The Laura Marling song 'Mexico' has definitely got to be the soundtrack to my holiday, I am totally in love with her pure, chilled voice. As I only have a few days left in the beautiful Mexican Caribbean, I am making the most of this winter sun and good spicy food along with the unlimited amount of tourist tat that I have actually enjoyed browsing through. So I thought I would do a quick post to finish off my trip and next week I will be back to regular, post trip blogging with lots of colourful photos and story’s from my two weeks in paradise. My Day of the Dead Experience, Mexico 2011

Ola from Mexico, where the weather has been, lets say interesting but hopefully now the sun will be sticking around for the next few days or so at least. Last week was the whole Day of the Dead festival, as we know it in the UK here in Mexico. The streets were filled with colour even more so than usual and florists were rushed off their feet with tributes and arrangements to prepare for all the families to place on the tombs, graves and alters. The 1st November, we went to join in the celebrations at Xcaret park which is around an hour from Cancun, usually a nature park the whole complex was decorated and made up especially for the event and native people were brought in from all across Mexico to showcase their personal alters and traditions. On the 2nd November, I travelled 4 hours in land from Cancun to the main town in the Yucatán, Merida to see some real traditional decoration and celebration. We found the local town full of stalls selling traditional objects like the candy sugar skulls that are usually placed around the alters and the traditional colourful paper hangings, it was a fantastic inspirational place.

Tonight when the clock strokes midnight in Cancun, the El Dia de los Muertos - The Day of the Dead festivities will begin all over Mexcio. I am so lucky to be here during this fantastic traditional festival and I am already feeling truely inspired by the colourful people and scenery out here. Watch this space!!
