Reminiscing about my time spent in NSW, Australia last summer, watching the surfers at the Bondi and Manly beach and thinking how great the wetsuit material neoprene would be in fashion clothes as a structured fabric. I first saw the use of neoprene at an exhibition in London a few years back which had been moulded and embossed to create a really interesting modern texture and last season, when Peter Pilotto and his design partner Christopher De Vos showed the Indian Ocean/Coral Reefs inspired collection heavily relying on neoprene and scuba for there shape and silhouette.
